Celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend with MOMMIE DEAREST!
When director Frank Perry set out to adapt Christina Crawford’s autobiography about her turbulent relationship with her adoptive mother, Hollywood legend Joan Crawford, he couldn’t imagine the legacy the film would ultimately achieve. Nominated for a then-record nine Razzie Awards – “awarded” to the worst of films – Mommie Dearest would ultimately take home six, including Worst Picture and Worst Actress for Faye Dunaway, who has long distanced herself from the project, once remaking, “It was not a great time in my life and the film was not an experience I want to think about. Period!”
Thirty years later, Mommie Dearest has emerged as a cult classic, a revival cinema sensation whose most famous line has been referenced in everything from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Absolutely Fabulous to Futurama. We celebrate this enduring classic by presenting it on its 30th Anniversary, on Mother’s Day weekend!
*Note: Unlike previously planned, due to technical difficulties this presentation will not be presented in MuVChat.*
