Harold and Maude. On Valentine’s Day. At the cemetery.
Long Beach Cinematheque, in partnership with Lola’s Mexican Cuisine, is thrilled to present our 4th annual Valentine’s Day presentation of Hal Ashby’s Harold and Maude at a venue perfectly befitting this beloved celebration of life, death, nature, grace, and yes, cemeteries – under the stars at Long Beach’s historic Sunnyside Cemetery. One of the most beloved and unique love stories of all time, 1971′s Harold and Maude is at once a hilarious comedy, a unique romance, a provocative and inspiring work of existentialism, and always an opportunity to sit back and listen to some great Cat Stevens tunes.
And speaking of Cat Stevens, come early! Rumor is, some talented Long Beach musicians will be performing some Stevens classics before the show. Stay tuned…
This screening will kick off an exciting new collaboration between the Long Beach Cinematheque and Lola’s Mexican Cuisine -

We thank Councilman James Johnson and his staff for their support, and our wonderful hosts at Sunnyside Cemetery for making this event possible! Thanks also to our friends at Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau and Shoreline Village, without whose support we would not be able to bring outdoor films to the community.
